SCOTT Nicholls has vowed to “race his heart out” for Leicester after a rollercoaster season.
The seven-times British Champion was snapped up by the Lions in a dramatic reshuffle following their heavy home defeat to King’s Lynn.
Heartthrob Nicholls, 40, admits he is buzzing to get going for Leicester live on BT Sport next Monday at Swindon as they bid to make a late run for the Premiership Play-Offs.
He revealed: “It’s a great move for me, I am really pleased to be back in the Premiership with such a great club.
“Leicester have had a tough season with injuries and that has cost them big time. So I want to come in and do a big job.
“I had problems sorting out getting to Peterborough during the winter and then obviously Rye House closed down, so it’s been a rollercoaster for me.
“But I’d like to think my reputation goes before me. People know what they are going to get from me. I’ve always been a racer and always give 100 per cent in every race. I will race my heart out for Leicester, that’s for sure.
“It’s a new start for the team at Swindon on BT Sport on Monday night. But our season starts here and we need to try and finish it as strong as possible.”
Nicholls will actually appear on BT Sport twice in 72 hours as a studio pundit for their coverage of the prestigious British Grand Prix at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday.
Then he’ll be donning the kevlars for the Lions on Monday night against the high-flying defending Premiership champions Swindon.
Nicholls also admits that he’s happy to grab this top flight opportunity again with both hands. He said: “I had sort of resigned myself to missing out on any further racing in the Premiership so this is great for me.
“I’m known for wearing my extremely wacky and colourful Claudio Lugli shirts on TV so I was thinking of going into fashion instead or even a politician.
“But I’ll put on hold being the next Vivienne Westwood or going for Prime Minister for now and concentrate racing for Leicester!
“Seriously though, there’s no reason why we can’t finish the second half of the season in really good form.
“The promotion want success and results for the fans, that’s very clear. Now it’s up to the riders to deliver. I can’t wait to get going.”
